At Barlow Build, we’re more than just builders. Husband and wife team, Gary and Rachelle are local family business with a passion for creating spaces where life happens. Based in Adelaide, South Australia, we bring over 37 years of hands-on experience to every commercial and residential project.
Built on strong relationships and a commitment to quality, we work closely with our clients to deliver homes and spaces that truly feel like they belong.
OUR JOURNEY
Gary has been building and creating with his hands from the age of 15. Beginning his journey as a young carpenter in the United Kingdom, specialising in joinery and cabinet making, Gary’s passion for construction only grew stronger over time. He didn’t stop there but continued to add qualifications in plumbing, gas fitting, and electrical work along the way, making him a true all rounder in the trade.

Gary’s hard work and dedication to doing things the right way was proudly recognised when he was inducted into the Guild of Master Craftsmen, a reflection of his commitment to quality and care. Today, that same passion and pride lives on in every home and project we build at Barlow Build.

Rachelle has been in construction since the age of 19, working alongside side Gary. With a wealth of experience in building and designing, Rachelle has custom designed hundred of homes and projects over the years and is a qualified builder in her own right.
OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE
Before moving to South Australia, Gary built an incredible career in the United Kingdom, working on a wide range of projects from beautiful kitchen and bathroom renovations for the rich and famous, to subcontracting for high-end kitchen and bathroom companies.
Involved in three storey homes and multi-unit developments, to commercial renovations, government projects, and stunning new builds. Gary’s passion for craftsmanship also saw him play a role in preserving history, helping restore heritage listed properties including churches dating back to the 15th and 18th centuries.
No matter the size or style of the project, Gary has always believed in building with care, pride, and attention to every fine detail, a tradition that lives on today.
AUSTRALIAN EXPERTISE
Both Gary and Rachelle have built an incredible set of skills and qualifications over their careers. They both hold a Certificate IV in Building and Construction Management. Gary is currently furthering his studies with a degree in Construction Management, along with working towards becoming NATHERS accredited to help promote more energy efficient, sustainable homes.

Gary is also a qualified Master Plumber, Master Gas Fitter, and Cabinet Maker, and holds licenses in plumbing, gas fitting, and builder supervision covering everything from three-storey residential homes to commercial projects.
His hands-on experience extends to running custom home builds, homes designed for sloping blocks (including pools), and commercial properties, often working closely with talented architects and managing integrated building systems.

Some of their proudest projects include the restoration of the historic Freemasons Building in Mount Barker and doctor’s consultation rooms in Fullarton. This website will continue to evolve as more plans/designs are created and more projects are completed.
Gary leadership and dedication are clear, having successfully led teams of over 70 tradespeople and labourers, always with a focus on quality, teamwork, and pride in every build.
